The Guías Scouts del Perú received a visit on 22 November from Margarita Zavala, wife of the President of Mexico. She was accompanied by Claudia González de Villegas, wife of the Mexican Ambassador to Peru.
Margarita Zavala met with members of the National Executive Board who shared with her the work and projects recently carried out: You Decide, With you from a distance, Mothers at Risk and the Twinning Project with GSUSA. She in turn shared her experiences with working with Guías de México, her feelings and commitment to the Movement and emphasized that WAGGGS was a great organization working tirelessly towards the development of girls and young women.
She later toured several locations where pre-Brownies, Brownies, junior, intermediate and senior GGGS demonstrated activities as part of their programmes and she was then presented with a Scarf from the Guías Scouts del Perú, a Friendship Pin and a Girl Guide/Girl Scout presented her with a gift for her daughter Maria who is also a member of Guías de México.
Margarita Zavala spoke movingly to the whole group, she thanked them for the work done by all in the Association, both internally and for the community at large in supporting women in Peru.
