SPANISH SPEAKING WOMEN ASSOCIATION IN SINGAPORE

¡EN SINGAPORE TAMBIÉN HABLAMOS ESPAÑOL!

Con gran entusiasmo y alegría me enteré y he empezado a participar de las actividades de la SSWA, que por sus siglas en inglés significa Spanish Speaking Women´s Association. Se trata de una Asociación Civil sin fines políticos, ni religiosos, ni de lucro.

Fundada en 1978, la Asociación de Mujeres de Habla Hispana se creó con el fin de compartir experiencias y conocer las diferentes culturas de aquellas mujeres que además de compartir el idioma, están juntas por distintos motivos en esta aventura asiática.

Para la Asociación es muy importante hacer que esta experiencia sea lo más placentera posible para todas aquellas mujeres que están aquí en Singapur.

El trabajo se lleva a cabo por medio de voluntarias que gracias a su compromiso y dedicación hacen que la Asociación progrese día a día.

VARGAS LLOSA y la LITERATURA INFANTIL

La editorial Alfaguara publicó el primer libro para niños del laureado autor peruano MARIO VARGAS LLOSA. La obra se titula Fonchito y la Luna.

El pequeño Fonchito experimenta la aventura de su primer amor y nos invita a vivir con él esta magia.

Las ilustraciones son de Martha Chicote.

REALISM IN ASIAN ART

VOICES BEHIND THE STROKES

This exhibition is about the impact of realist approaches to painting in different parts of Asia.

The term "realism" refers more specifically to the 19th-century Western art movement that accentuated the observation of everyday life. In other words, the artist would attempt to represent things as they are in real life. Realist artworks are characterised by their subject matter and typically they portrayed scenes of peasant and working class life, urban street life and entertainment for the masses. Portraiture was also favoured. This exhibition displays the different kinds of realism that were produced across Asia and is the first-ever attempt to understand a strong and important genre in Asian modern art.

Abdullah Basochi, Georgette Chen, Lai foong Moi, Fernando Armosolo and Oh Yun are some of the artist in this exhibition.

Realism in Asian Art is showcased at the Singapore Art Museum, located at 71 Bras Basah Road.

Federico Fellini's seminal film La Dolce Vita, is a masterpiece that shows one man's descent into "the sweet life" of debauchery. Starring Marcello Mastroianni as the eccentric jounalist whose assignment is to chronicle the lives of the Italian aristocracy in a gossip column, Marcello floats from one fabulous party to the next. However, this seemingly ideal job makes him feel lonely and empty and he stays up drinking and dancing night after night.
